Piano Tuning Check List

In order to complete the work efficiently, the more I know about the piano before calling out, the better likelihood that the job will be completed on the first visit. A checklist for you to carry out on the piano should include:

  • Approximate age of piano
  • Name of piano
  • Are there any sticking keys, or keys that don't sound properly when played repeatedly?
  • Are there several sticking keys adjacent to each other?
  • Are there any non sounding notes when pressed down?
  • Are there any broken hammers in the action?
  • Is there a clicking noise coming from any keys?
  • Does one or many notes ring on after the note has been depressed?
  • Does the sustain or soft pedal work when engaged?
  • Is there any pedal squeaking?
  • Is there a buzzing or rattling sound from the piano when played?
